“Architecture is a collaborative activity that involves social responsibility, negotiation, and compromise.” This is how architects Dan Price and Michal Bleicher explain the rationale for Studio 1:1 – the unique course they founded in 2018. According to them, “Many architecture students perceive the architect as a ‘design genius’ and as the sole person responsible for the architectural project. In our studio, they understand that architectural design is a complex process based on teamwork, in-depth discussions, attention to detail, negotiation, and sometimes compromises – compromises both within the design team and with clients and other parties. The course fosters the perception of architectural design as a cultural task that imposes social responsibility on the architect.”
