The first community meeting included leaders of the community and representatives of the municipality to get an understanding of the conflicts and aspirations. Guided and encouraged by the municipal social worker, the students presented three alternative design proposals to a community meeting in the neighborhood cultural center. It was important to give all those involved a voice and to ensure that the design reflected a consensus between neighbors. The result was overwhelming support from the broader community, many of whom volunteered in the construction. A concrete platform cast by the students supports a steel and wood structure. The wood was cut at the Technion workshop by the students and assembled with the community on site. Under the direction of the students, the garden was planted by parents and children of the community.
